The Anderson County EMS and Special Operations Division is charged with several tasks.  We provide administrative and clinical, management and oversight to all those providing pre-hospital emergency medical care and primary rescue services to, for and on behalf of the County by way of employment or contract.  We also provide canine search & rescue and cadaver detection teams in conjunction with the Anderson Technical Rescue Team.  We provide emergency medical training to our fellow public safety agencies and other organizations.  Lastly, we provide hazard detection in the form of an explosives detection canine team.

The Anderson County EMS system is comprised of ten professional agencies providing service for Anderson County. Those agencies include Anderson County Central Dispatch (911), Anderson County EMS, as well as our contracted EMS providers: Belton EMS, Honea Path EMS, Williamston EMS, Pelzer Rescue Squad, Iva Rescue Squad, Pendleton Area Rescue Squad, Fork Rescue Squad and MedShore Ambulance Service.

Day to day contractual, clinical and operational administration, oversight and coordination are provided by the Anderson County EMS & Special Operations Director with the assistance of performance improvement paramedics and the Anderson County EMS Medical Control Physicians.

We are also active in and provide emergency medical response and oversight for certain special teams including dive and marine rescue, hazardous materials, tactical emergency medical and technical rescue teams.

Our division also maintains, trains and handles an explosives detection canine as well as several search & rescue and cadaver canines.

EMS & SO works hand-in-hand with all EMS, fire, emergency management and law enforcement agencies, as well as the Anderson County E-911 Central Dispatch Communications Center.
